summer at the gatehouse
I’ve spent several weeks this summer at “god’s country” (Mississippi State University Research and Curriculum Unit) teaching teachers how to write Understanding by Design lesson plans and new technology to use with their teaching. My small group of culinary teachers were super students as was a larger group of mostly technology teachers I taught later in the summer.
One of the best parts of having to be away from home was visiting with my sister 25 miles away and staying in her gatehouse.
The gatehouse is a comfortable house my sister and step-dad built out back of the main house. It afforded me privacy and all the comforts of home (Internet access, tv.) The landscaping sister has worked so diligently on provided a gorgeous vignette to sip morning coffee. I especially enjoyed the time with my sister, as we have precious little of it during the regular school year.
Thanks again, sis, for your hospitality and wonderful accommodations! And now, your gatehouse is on the Internets!
